The Topana Fortress was built in the 10th century. In the past, it had a special strategic significance. It was mentioned several times in charters of Croatian and Bosnian kings. It was inhabited until 1816. Near the fortress, there is a church dedicated to Our Lady of Angels, the patron saint of Imotska krajina. The church was built in 1718. Several cultural and artistic events take place around the fortress during the summer, usually as part of the repertory of „Imotska sila“, especially on Town Day, celebrated on August, 2nd. At the foot of the fortress, there is one of the most beautiful football stadiums, belonging to the second-division football club „Imotski“. Red Lake is 1.5 km far from the town. This true Karst phenomenon was named Red Lake because of its reddish rocks. This deepest European hatch is 200 m in diameter. The water is about 300 m deep and its bottom is under the sea level. It was developed by implosion . It is composed of two Karst sink-holes which were formed in different periods during the geological development of this area. The older sink-hole is in the eastern part of the lake, and the younger one is actually the lake itself. In 1998, the lake was explored by about 50 speleologists who were members of the great international expedition. In spite of all that, the ultimate depth of the lake hasn't been established. Due to its beauty, mystical quality and inaccessibility, it's been a subject of many stories and legends. The most famous is the one about Gavan and his palace. The Croatian writer Josip Eugen Tomić wrote several interesting verses about the lake in 1884.

Blue Lake, the favourite promenade and bathing place in Imotski, is situated next to the western outskirts of the town. This oval-shaped lake is about 800 m long and 400 m wide. The belvedere, overlooking the lake, is situated at the height of 380 m above the sea level. Ten serpent roads, built in 1904, lead from the belvedere to its clear water surface. Popular „birds of Imotski“, jumping from the neighbouring cliffs into the water, make a special summer tourist attraction. Mr Braco Ćosić, a journalist from Imotski, described their „flight“ using the following verses:
The height, the deep blue Cliffs crowded with children Plenty of beauty from Imotski The lake birds Clambering during the whole summer Climbing, crawling up the steep. And then they fly as if from the nest Into the deep blue, into the depth. The depth of Blue Lake changes throughout the year. In spring, the lake is usually about 100 m deep. In the late autumn, it sometimes even dries up. A football match is played on its silty bottom then. As presumed, the grave of Hasanaginica is situated on the southwestern slopes of Blue Lake. An unknown poet from Imotski wrote a ballad poem about her love tragedy. Later on, the poem was translated into several languages by Alberto Fortis, Goethe, Puškin, W. Scott and many others. Except from the Bible, this ballad is the most often translated literary work in the world. The price of entrance tickets: Organized visits – 10 kuna for adults - 5 kuna for children
